Founders Story
In December 2019, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Faced with the possibility of losing her, I began creating a way to preserve not just her memories, but her identity, her stories, values, life lessons, voice, and the moments that made her who she was.
When she passed away on July 2, 2021, that personal project became a mission.
In 2023, while working in memory care, I witnessed firsthand how often people became known by their diagnosis instead of their life story. Medical records documented conditions, but rarely captured the person behind them.
That experience reinforced a simple truth:
The missing piece wasn’t more medical information it was identity.
Today, Cherish These Words is dedicated to preserving identity, strengthening person-centered care, and ensuring every person is remembered for the life they lived, not the diagnosis they received.
